... which, coupled with a real desire to make a difference, and a knack for bringing people together has landed him significant success.
His life in New Zealand began with opening a bookshop in High Street, Auckland in 1980 focused on mystical, psychological, philosophical and religious books. An interesting background for a man who, most recently, has built an Angel Investment group with over 200 members spread across the Central North Island – Enterprise Angels – which caters for all kinds of investment philosophies.
Not satisfied with bringing hundreds of investors together at member meetings in Rotorua, Hamilton, Taupo and in his home town, Tauranga; with his next enterprise he aims to bring hundreds more together across the whole country. His ambition – to make the diligent work formal angel groups do, funding and supporting seed and startup companies, available to wholesale investors online.
Bill is the driving force behind AngelEquity, sponsor of this Angel@mytable event, and newest entrant to the equity crowd-funding market.
AngelEquity, due to launch soon, will be a wholesale and angel investor only platform providing access to angel-backed deals from groups across New Zealand. Only companies that have been through the thorough, robust and generative due diligence process with angel group members, acquired capital and an experienced lead investor will be eligible to use the platform to raise larger first or follow-on rounds.
Bill’s personal portfolio includes 8 deals and he is Board Chairman of Techion an Enterprise Angels backed company. He is a passionate and tireless advocate for kiwi innovation who takes his knowledge of the eco-system, and deal portfolio with him when he travels to the US, opening opportunities in the "big market” for small but perfectly positioned companies in the process.
Come to Angel@mytable at The Grid, Auckland, to meet Bill and find out what “bringing them together” really means.

This Angel@mytable event is only possible because of the generous support of the Angel Association of New Zealand (AANZ), the New Zealand Software Association (NZSA) and Angel Equity. All three organizations understand the importance of striving to create more angel-entrepreneur relationships in order to grow innovative kiwi companies.
AANZ is the key representative body for the countries early stage investors. Its members include angel groups, networks, funds, incubation and crowdfunding organisations. It is New Zealand's central source of education and expertise around investing at seed and start up stages. Its members are among those responsible for some of the best known, most successful and fastest growing kiwi startups, including Greenbutton, acquired by Microsoft in 2015.
NZSA focus on providing support, resources and information to assist New Zealand software companies to develop their pathway to scale and export success. They are an entrepreunerially and technologically focused association whose members are both angels and entrepreneurs.
AngelEquity is a new online platform launching into New Zealand's wholesale investor market bringing with it access to angel backed deals. Created by Enterprise Angels, the investment group with the largest number of investors spread across the North Island, AngelEquity is a great example of technology being put to use to bring people together and grow New Zealand's economy.
All together, the investor panel, the participation of over 100 entrepreneurs, the three key sponsor organisations and the location – the stunning new home of 'The Grid', Auckland's premier host of all things innovative and technological – make this a must-attend Techweek AKL event.
